Drivers with Uber and Lyft are able to reject ride requests unless the rejection is based on discrimination based on age, race, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, or disability. Both companies incentivize drivers to accept as many rides as possible by including rejected rides in its calculation of acceptance rates. A driver who frequently rejects rides will receive a lower acceptance rate that may lead to removal from the app.
